When you join

Your email address and public IP address travel through a server-side signup route to Buttondown, the newsletter provider. The IP address helps distinguish your request from automated abuse. Buttondown manages confirmation and newsletter delivery. Your address is not placed in public site code.

When you visit

Vercel hosts this site and processes the request information needed to serve each page and protect the service. Orion Awakens also uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. Google receives the page address, the referring page, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and general device information, and it sets cookies in your browser. Google is the recipient of that data and processes it under its own terms. We have turned off Google's advertising features for this property, so it is not used to build advertising audiences, and we do not sell it. We read it to decide what to make next, not to identify you. Beyond the pages you open, Google Analytics may also record ordinary interactions on its own: how far down a page you scroll, links you follow away from the site, file downloads, form interactions, and video engagement.

To stop the collection, use a tracker blocker, or block the domains googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com. Blocking or clearing cookies alone limits what can be linked between your visits, but it does not stop the measurement itself. The site works exactly the same either way, and nothing here is required to read, watch, or listen.
